If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing Italian escape, look no further. Enjoy fresh truffle pasta, wild boar tagliatelle, gnocchi, and small handmade porcini ravioli at the local restaurants. Sip on full bodied Tuscan wines from the local vineyards, or just have a nap under cipressi trees with the warm air rocking you to sleep.
Caprese Michelangelo is the home of the ‘Sagra della Castagna‘. Every October, locals bring all of the chestnuts in the area, and make a myriad of products at this delightful market. It is a great outing with plenty to see, taste, sample and buy.
If shopping is more your thing, Cortona is only forty minutes away, where you’ll find fantastic local boutique stores selling the latest in Italian shoes, clothing, wines, olive oil, and so much more.
Do you like big brands? Then The Mall at Leccio, or the leather markets of Florence are only an hour and fifteen minutes away. Shop ‘til you drop and then return home to try on your new fashions, and enjoy a great meal while watching the view from our hilltop patio.
One of the many great things about our location is that in moments you can be in the medieval borgo of Anghiari, voted one of the top 10 best borghi in Italy, and then moments later, you can snack on bruschetta at a local trattoria.
Casa Michelangelo also makes a great launching spot for bike tours all throughout Tuscany and Umbria. Caprese is often found on the route of the Giro d’Italia, where hundreds of professional cyclists compete to win Italy’s most prized cycling trophy.
Just around the corner from our villa, you’ll find challenging hiking to the top of Pieve Santo Stefano. There you’ll find the monastery where St. Francis received stigmata. The resident gift shop has plenty of great gifts like locally made chocolate, soaps, perfumes and wine.
Untouched by the mobs of tourists found in most areas of Tuscany, Casa Michelangelo is an oasis of Italian culture with authentic food, wine, cheese, truffles and friendly people…all while being not far from all the major tourist destinations in Tuscany.
